Ombak Coffee

The bright counter at Ombak Coffee with glass pendant lamps, a white espresso machine, a wall menu of lettered boards and bags of beans on a shelf

Ombak means wave in Indonesian, and the Ponti family, who lived and worked in Indonesia for more than twenty years, are bringing Indonesian specialty coffee to Switzerland as one. Martin, Alista, Aaliyah and Adam import green coffee directly from farmers in Indonesia and have Henauer in Höri roast it to their own profiles, so the Black Pearl house espresso, a Lintong Sumatra with dark chocolate, spice and a light citrus note, and filters such as the naturally fermented Red Gayo can only be found here.

The shop opened in 2021 as Omnia Coffee and took the Ombak name in January 2025. Its bright counter on Stauffacherstrasse, a short walk from Helvetiaplatz, is built around take away, with pastries, salads and sandwiches carrying an Indonesian touch, and the family also teaches SCA certified barista courses, so curious questions are always welcome.
