Peregrine Espresso Eastern Market

Peregrine Espresso began here in 2008, when Ryan and Jill Jensen, who had met while working at rival cafes, opened their first shop a block from Eastern Market. The couple wanted to pair careful coffee with friendly service, education and a focus on sustainability, and the shop remains the anchor of a small group that now includes a roasting company, Small Planes Coffee.

The bar serves espresso, macchiato, cappuccino, latte and Americano, flash brewed iced coffee and nitro coffee, which is poured only at this location, with rotating single origins and seasonal blends from Small Planes behind it. Pastries come from Bluebird Bakery. Composting, recycling, wind power and reusable glass milk bottles are part of daily routine, and several baristas have competed in regional and national contests.
