Lost Sock Roasters Takoma

Stacked light blue Lost Sock Coffee Roasters bags with green and purple labels for Aquiares from Costa Rica and Karinga from Kenya on a wooden shelf

Lost Sock Roasters is a small batch roaster that pours its coffee in a cafe on Fourth Street in Takoma, near the Maryland line. The beans are roasted in Brightwood Park on a six kilo Mill City roaster, and the team looks for coffees that are sweet, bright, complex and juicy, including the occasional experimentally fermented lot, while keeping room for a balanced, chocolatey cup.

Green coffee comes through a small number of importers and direct trade collectives chosen for their attention to sustainability, and roast profiles tend toward light to medium so the farmer's work stays in the cup. The cafe pours the current lineup, with bags to take home and subscriptions online. It is open Tuesday through Sunday, and a second Lost Sock cafe operates in NoMa.
