Lost Sock Roasters NoMa

Three grinders with handwritten hopper labels in front of a brick wall and wooden shelves of plants, with two customers waiting at the bar

The NoMa cafe is the second home of Lost Sock Roasters, a small batch roaster whose coffee is roasted in Brightwood Park on a six kilo Mill City machine. The team looks for coffees that are sweet, bright, complex and juicy and is happy to pour an experimentally fermented lot beside a balanced, chocolatey cup, with roast profiles that stay in the light to medium range.

Green coffee is bought through a small number of importers and direct trade collectives that share the roaster's views on sustainability, and the cafe pours the roasts for drinking in or taking away. Retail bags and subscriptions are available, and the shop is open Tuesday through Sunday, with a slightly later start on weekends. The original cafe is on Fourth Street in Takoma.
