La Coop Coffee

La Coop Coffee roasts Guatemalan single origin coffee in its Brightwood Park cafe on Kennedy Street, a white painted corner building with carved wooden doors that opened in November 2024. The beans come from a farmers association in Union Cantinil, in Huehuetenango, which founder Juan Luis Salazar Cano helped form in 2006, and the shop presents them as micro lots from individual growers.
The roasting happens here several times a week, so the coffee on the bar and on the retail shelf is close to its roast date. The menu covers espresso drinks and filter coffee made from the house roasts, and bags of beans can be taken home or ordered online. A second La Coop cafe operates in Arlington, Virginia. The Kennedy Street shop opens early every day and closes at five.
