Hypergoat Cafe

The bright bar at Hypergoat Cafe with a grinder, cups and saucers on the counter and a lettered sign on the back wall

Hypergoat Coffee Roasters was founded in Alexandria in 2023 by a couple who had been roasting in their garage since 2015, and its cafe on North Payne Street sits in a historic building shared with a co working space. The name nods to the Ethiopian legend of Kaldi and his energized goats, and the roasting, inspired by Nordic style roasters, uses non traditional profiles chosen to bring out the character of each lot.

The bar serves espresso, single origin espresso, macchiato, cortado, shakerato, flat white and filter coffee, with pour overs and a coffee flight on the changing menu, plus pastries and a few savory bites. A monthly guided cupping is held at the cafe, and beans are roasted and shipped twice a week. Street parking and a small lot are nearby, and the back outdoor space welcomes dogs.
