Gigis Coffee Roasters

Gigis Coffee Roasters is a small batch roastery and cafe on Central Avenue in Northeast DC, built around a fully electric roaster that runs with zero emissions. The founder, a computer science graduate, set out to bring a high quality coffee space to Ward 7 and to show how much science and engineering sits behind an ordinary cup, from soil and climate to roast chemistry.

Everything is roasted in house in small batches, and the current lineup includes a light medium Catalyst Brew and the Caffeine Algorithm espresso blend, with bags sold in several sizes and shipped by mail. The cafe serves espresso drinks and seasonal lattes, and the shop also offers catering and wholesale coffee. The shop opens on weekday mornings and Saturdays, and closes at two in the afternoon.
