Koun Coffee

A roastery and coffee shop on Wiedner Hauptstraße, close to Karlsplatz and a short walk from the Taubstummengasse stop on the U1. The beans are roasted in house for espresso and filter, and the range is built around traceable single origins, both washed and natural, such as a washed pink Bourbon filter roast released this summer.

Behind the counter a bright yellow Sanremo machine sits against a wall of loud, colourful canvases, and the small room feels livelier for it. It is open six days a week with a closed Tuesday, a slightly later start at the weekend, and every roast on the shelf can be taken home. The U1 stop at Taubstummengasse and the 13A bus at Johann-Strauß-Gasse are both close by, so it is easy to reach from the centre.
