Kaffeemodul

Often called the smallest coffee shop in Vienna, barely bigger than a chicken coop by more than one account, Kaffeemodul opened in 2012 near the timing of that year's World Barista Championships held in the city. Co founders Valentin Freyler, a trained diplomat, and Boris Ortner, who came from an architecture background, have since collected serious competitive credentials of their own: an Austrian Brewers Cup title, an Austrian Cup Tasting title, and a fourth place finish at the World Cup Tasting Championship.

The shop now roasts under its own label, nomi.coffee, having built out a proper roasting operation after years of sourcing from outside partners. Bagged beans and brewing equipment are sold both in the tiny Josefstädter Straße room and through the nomi.coffee webshop. Closed Sundays, with a short Saturday morning window that rewards showing up early.
