Kaffeefabrik Mariahilf

Kaffeefabrik is one of Vienna's first small roasteries, started on Favoritenstraße in 2011 and built on beans imported directly from organic cooperatives through Roasters United, a network of small European roasters. The Otto-Bauer-Gasse café is its larger second home, a bright, relaxed room on a pedestrian friendly side street in Mariahilf where the house espresso rotates every two weeks between a darker, chocolatey roast and a lighter, fruitier one.
Filter coffee is the quieter highlight, with the lighter roasts brewed by hand in a Clever Dripper, and the counter adds house baked cakes, homemade lemonades and tonics, and a garden terrace for about 15 guests. Bags of the house roasts are on the shelf here seven days a week, so it doubles as an easy place in the city to take a bag home.
