Carl Ludwig Cafe

Baristas laughing with a customer at the wood shelved counter of Carl Ludwig Cafe, with coffee tins on the shelves above

A specialty coffee café on Favoritenstraße, in a grand old palais building. The espresso comes from a high end portafilter machine, and the menu also runs to filter methods and cold brew, with beans traceable to the farms and cooperatives that grew them.

The coffee comes from Charles Fürht, an Austrian artisan roaster, and the shop pours it at a counter lined with warm wood shelves of tins and jars. Hours are generous on weekdays, from 07:30 to 19:00, and run from 10:00 to 17:00 on Saturday. The café is closed on Sundays and on public holidays, so a Sunday visit will need another plan. The English language website lists the hours and tells the shop's story.
