Nemesis Coffee

The glass fronted corner exterior of Nemesis Coffee's Gastown flagship on West Hastings Street, with a lit heart shaped sign in the window and outdoor benches along the sidewalk

Nemesis opened its first location in Gastown on Valentine's Day 2017 and has since grown into a small Vancouver owned chain, but the West Hastings Street original remains the one most associated with the brand's design forward look, bright, high ceilinged, and built for photographs as much as for sitting down with a coffee. The bar runs a house roasting program alongside a pastry case and an all day food menu that goes beyond the usual muffins and croissants.

The tagline on the wall reads coffee creating culture, and the shop backs it with a full retail wall of its own roasted bags, named lines like The Juice and The O.G. among them, sold both in store and online. It sits a two minute walk from Waterfront Station, which makes it as much a commuter stop as a destination in its own right.
