Los Picos

A cozy yellow walled corner of Los Picos with round wooden tables, stools, and a wine shelf lit by a pendant lamp

Gema and Rafa fell for specialty coffee in 2012 at Toma Café in Madrid, and opened Los Picos in Ruzafa in late 2017 with a name inspired by nothing more mysterious than their shared love of Twin Peaks. The multi roaster cafe changes beans weekly, running through Spanish names like SlowMov, Right Side, San Agustín, Puchero, and Valencia's own Don Gallo alongside international guests like Berlin's The Barn and Tres Cabezas.

Cupping sessions are a regular fixture, part of an effort to help visitors taste the difference between commercial and specialty grade coffee rather than just tell them about it. A small selection of cakes and sweets comes straight from fellow Ruzafa shop Blackbird's kitchen, rounding out a counter built to make newcomers and regulars feel equally welcome.
