Brewtalist Coffee Hub

Brewtalist opened in Ciutat Vella in December 2024, a couple of minutes from Estación del Norte, as a coffee hub that is part bar, part shop, part laboratory and part classroom. It was started by María Guerrero and Javier Vidal, both from Castellón, together with coffee expert Marcos Zoya. Javier swapped a career in programming for coffee after a passion that grew during the pandemic, and the place is built around knowing where a coffee comes from, when it was roasted and how it was processed.

The counter serves specialty coffee only, and the shelves carry beans plus espresso machines from brands such as La Marzocco and Sage, so it doubles as a showroom. Teaching is a big part of the offer, with beginner workshops, open cuppings and Specialty Coffee Association courses running through the year. Bags and equipment can also be ordered through the online shop, and the setting is unhurried and low key.
