Chotto Matte

Chotto Matte opened in August 2026 on Via Milano, in the Quadrilatero Romano, in a former bar that Andrea Cossu and Giulia Gamberini turned into a cafe and micro roastery. The name is Japanese for wait a moment, and the idea is a slower stop for coffee that is roasted on site.
The focus is African single origins, from places such as Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda and Ethiopia, with an everyday espresso base and a rotating microlot offered as a second option for anyone who wants something different. Fresh pastries and a light lunch round out the day, and the doors open from Wednesday to Sunday through the middle of the day, a short walk from Porta Palatina.
