Sellanraa Bok og Bar

Sellanraa opened in October 2016 inside Trondheim's former main fire station on Kongens gate, sharing the building with Litteraturhuset i Trondheim and an art hall. The name comes from Isak Sellanraa, the farmer protagonist of Knut Hamsun's novel Markens Grode, and the concept pairs a bookstore focused on art and architecture with a bar and kitchen. Baristas here have placed in Norwegian national barista championships.

Rather than roasting its own beans, Sellanraa rotates seasonal coffee from a changing list of specialty roasters, including Pala Kaffebrenneri from Trondheim alongside Tim Wendelboe and Coffee Collective. The kitchen runs a seasonal, farm to table menu of dishes like pan fried halibut and smorrebrod, and the room doubles as event and meeting space for the cultural quarter around it.
