Cafe le Frere

An independent, bohemian leaning cafe furnished with plants, vintage chairs and board games, and known for rotating local art on its walls and occasional live acoustic music. The shop roasts its own coffee on site, and its signature espresso, Espresso Nostalgia, was built here as a bolder, more comforting take on southern Italian style shots. In 2017 that in house roasting operation grew into its own standalone brand, Polar Bear Coffee Roasters, which placed fourth in Norway's national coffee roasting championship in 2025.

Polar Bear buys green coffee through specialty importers including Nordic Approach and BELCO, roasting toward a Nordic leaning lighter style for some lots and a darker, classic espresso depth for others. Vegan pastries and oat milk drinks are part of the regular menu, and beans are sold through the roastery's own shop alongside the daily cafe service.
