Helmersen runs as a hybrid delicatessen, wine bar and coffee counter on Storgata, blending Mediterranean food culture with a Northern Norwegian setting. A deli counter operates through the day alongside the wine bar hours, and beans and coffee accessories are sold for takeaway.

Coffee is supplied by Senja Coffee Roasters rather than roasted in house, and the storefront lights up the street through the long Arctic winter, its windows strung with lights against the snow and dark.
