Boxcar Social Laneway

Boxcar Social Laneway sits at the end of an alley just west of Bathurst and College, a hideaway that opened in November 2021 as the quietest member of the Boxcar Social family. Where the group's other cafes run from morning coffee into evening wine and beer, this one is a slower, more intimate room inspired by Japanese listening bars, with oak shelving, low round tables, red cushioned stools, a leafy tree in the corner and a record player spinning a rotating selection of vinyl.

The coffee list leans on Subtext Coffee Roasters, the group's own roastery, alongside a rotating lineup of guest roasters chosen for how clearly each coffee speaks for its region and producer. Pour overs arrive with real care and presentation, bagels and spreads are on offer daily, and bags of beans and brewing gear are available for taking the experience home.
