Single O Ryogoku Roastworks

The open fronted Single O roastworks in Ryogoku, with a copper bar of bagged beans and tap stations, a black and white hand mural, crumpled paper art overhead and terrazzo tables and timber stools

Single O began as a small cafe and roastery in Sydney in 2003, and this converted wood processing factory in Ryogoku is its Japanese base. In 2024 the weekend only tasting bar moved about 200 metres into this larger space, which opens every day and houses the roasting machines.

Espresso and milk drinks are built on Single O's blends, and there is tap coffee for a quick stop alongside hot sandwiches from the kitchen. Roasting runs in the same building, favouring light roasts that keep the sweetness of beans bought directly from farms.
