KIELO COFFEE Akihabara

The grey tiled storefront of KIELO COFFEE in Akihabara, with the name in slim lettering above a pale wooden door, a small serving window, a leafy plant and a menu board out front

KIELO COFFEE Akihabara is a small white and wood room on the Showa Dori side of the electronics district, built around the Finnish habit of taking a proper coffee break. The brand grew out of a student trip to Finland by its founder Hiroki Yoshiike, and the shop offers a calm counterpoint to the streets outside.

The beans are roasted in a Nordic style, lighter and profiled separately for each coffee, and filter coffee is the draw. Sample jars are kept out so guests can smell the beans before choosing a bag to take home.
