February Coffee Roastery

The slate blue shopfront of February Coffee Roastery in Asakusa, with a black awning lettered February Coffee Roastery and Sweets Factory, a gridded window, an open door, a wooden bench and a potted tree

February Group had already been running an espresso bar in the neighborhood since 2012 before opening this roastery in June 2021, tucked into the quieter streets of what locals call Oku Asakusa, or deep Asakusa, away from the crowds around Senso ji. The shop installed Tokyo's first Coffeed brand drum roaster, a Polish built machine finished in bright pink, and set it right behind the counter so the roasting becomes part of the room rather than something hidden in back.

The lineup rotates through single origin lots such as a natural processed El Salvador, a washed Peru, and a washed Kenya, roasted anywhere from light to dark alongside a house blend called Balance and a decaf, all sold by the cup or in retail bags and drip packs. The group doubles the space as a sweets factory for scones and pastries, keeps wifi and outlets running for people who linger, and exhibits every year at SCAJ, Japan's specialty coffee trade show, closing only on Wednesdays.
