Alpha Beta Coffee Club

Red brick storefront of Alpha Beta Coffee Club in Jiyugaoka with illuminated COFFEE signage and glass fronted seating area

Alpha Beta Coffee Club was founded by a former senior marketer at Google who left the corporate track to build a coffee shop that works more like a magazine than a roastery, curating beans from independent roasters scattered across Japan rather than committing to just one house blend. The shop names each partner roaster on its own site, pulling from regions as far apart as Hokkaido and Okinawa, so a visit in one season can taste completely different from a visit in the next, all served alongside a rotating line of craft beer and a food menu that leans on California cafe habits like avocado toast and matcha.

The Jiyugaoka Concord location, now the brand's main address after an earlier storefront near the station, fills a red brick building with floor to ceiling glass, a tall COFFEE sign running up one pillar, and a dog friendly terrace out front that fills with laptops and textbooks through the day. It opens at 8 in the morning and runs straight through to 8 at night with no closed day on the calendar, a long single shift built around people who come back more than once in a day.
