Café de Halle

The glass fronted pastry case and hanging sign of Café de Halle inside Tampere's iron roofed Market Hall

Julia runs this counter stall inside the Tampere Market Hall, a glass and iron roofed building the cafe's own logo nods to, baking everything from sandwiches to cakes and macarons fresh on site each morning. Specialty coffee and a long tea list run alongside the pastry case, a stop as easy for market shoppers passing through as for anyone settling in at one of the small tables outside the stall.

The hall setting keeps the room compact, more counter than cafe, with the day's baking visible under glass and a chalkboard menu updated for whatever's come out of the oven. Weekday mornings draw the heaviest traffic, tapering toward a shorter Saturday close and no Sunday service.
