Simple Kaffa

Berg Wu opened the first Simple Kaffa in 2011, then became Taiwan's first World Barista Champion in 2016 after taking the title in Dublin. This Zhongzheng flagship near Huashan 1914 Creative Park opened in 2020 inside a renovated old house, a calm, marble topped room built around a central bar where the team pulls shots and pours filters in full view of the room. Big 7 Travel named it the world's best coffee shop in both 2019 and 2020, a ranking that still draws a line of visitors most mornings.

Wu roasts under what he calls a syrup roasting method, aiming for a clean, floral cup with fruit toned sweetness across a rotating single origin lineup. The shop runs walk in only with no reservations, pours espresso and filter coffee alongside pastries, and sells its own beans and drip bags to take home. Small dogs are welcome inside if carried.
