Grass Mountain Coffee

Chantil Ruan opened the original Grass Mountain Coffee in 2016 partway up Yangmingshan, naming the shop You Ming Xin, a nod to the Wang Yangming philosophy the mountain itself is named after. Years spent brewing beside hiking trails and volcanic rock sharpened the team's sense of smell and taste, and the roastery still talks about listening for the heartbeat of the roasting machine as beans move through each stage of color and aroma.

The shop came down off the mountain in 2026 to a ground floor glass room near Shilin Residence, open four days a week with the same direct fire roasted beans and pour over focus as before. Coffee is sold by the bag alongside drip packs and gift sets, and the new space keeps the tall windows and pale, open layout the mountain store was known for.
