Kék Elefánt Kávézó

Kék Elefánt opened on Klauzál tér in March 2016, when owner Zoltán Járjabka left a corporate energy company job after a single good coffee on a work trip convinced him to chase the craft instead. He trained as a barista, competed with a Hario V60 at a national coffee day event, and built a light roast, new wave cafe just off the square's Lion Fountain. Within two years the independent Kávékorzó coffee magazine named it one of Hungary's ten most loved cafes of 2017, and Szeged's press has kept covering it since.

The espresso list runs past the usual cappuccino and flat white into cortado, naked shot and the double strength Dead Eye, while a Hario V60 station handles filter, Aeropress and French press on request. A rotating 200 to 250 gram bag of whole beans sits at the counter for anyone who wants to keep brewing at home, and the shop doubles as a working barista school, running professional and hobby courses out of the same space it pours from each morning.
