Emmarozs Mérey

Emmarozs interior with a large decorative stove painting behind the wooden counter, potted plants and yellow walls

Emmarozs grew out of a home sourdough bakery into what is now a small gastronomy platform, with this Mérey utca location opening in autumn 2020 as the founding branch before three more Szeged locations followed. Every loaf still starts from a wild starter and a long natural ferment, baked with no additives in an open kitchen guests can watch from the tables, and the coffee gets the same treatment: beans roasted under the shop's own EMMAROAST label rather than bought in.

French pastry sits alongside the bread program, from a plain croissant to a pistachio and raspberry New York Roll, and the cocoa snail has stayed the top seller since opening day. Weekend mornings draw a real crowd for the brunch and lunch menu, so a table booking ahead of a Friday, Saturday or Sunday visit is worth making.
