Beta Coffee

Founder Chris Maybury built Beta around automation, not to cut corners but to free baristas to spend the time saved on actually talking with customers. House espresso is pulled ahead of time, chilled, then finished to order, while a robotic pour over station keeps filter coffee moving, all without slowing down the fifty plus rotating coffee lots chalked up on the board on Devonshire Street.

The bar doubles as a testing ground, with a full commercial kitchen handed to guest chefs and bakers rather than run in house, and a drinks list that has included a watermelon espresso alongside standard batch brew and flat whites. Ranked thirteenth on the World's 100 Best Coffee Shops list for 2026, Beta also consults for restaurants and hotels that want specialty grade coffee without running a full barista program.
