Südlager

Südlager opened as a small corner spot near Erwin Schoettle Platz in Stuttgart Süd, built around beans from Lovely Lots, the organic certified roastery over in Esslingen that supplies both the espresso and the filter. The room is deliberately compact, more of a quick counter stop than a lingering café, though there is a bench out front under the striped awning for anyone who wants to stay.

The short menu leans on cappuccino and espresso tonic alongside a rotating cookie, and bags of the house Arabica blend, a Brazil and Peru mix described as fruity, nutty and syrupy, go home with regulars by the pound. It closes on Sundays and, like a lot of Stuttgart cafés, shuts down for the day by mid afternoon.
