Micro Kaffi

Anne Hjelmeland and Tim Steer opened Micro Kaffi in 2021, after a planned cafe in Steer's home city of Cambridge fell through during the pandemic and the two settled on Stavanger, Hjelmeland's hometown, instead. The bar sits inside Rogaland Kunstsenter, an artist run exhibition space founded in 1978, and its footprint is small enough that it is regularly described as one of the tiniest coffee shops anywhere.
Rather than roasting its own beans, Micro Kaffi rotates coffee sourced from specialty roasters abroad, including DAK in Amsterdam, Tanat in Paris and Weekenders in Kyoto, alongside Norwegian names like Supreme Roastworks and neighboring Stavanger roaster Kokko. Oat milk is available, and beans and a coffee subscription are sold through the shop's own online store.
