Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee

Founded in 1963 by Tan Tiong Hoe after an apprenticeship at the Dutch coffee company Mirandolle Voûte & Co., this family roastery built its early reputation on a point of difference from typical kopitiam roasters: pure roasting with no maize or margarine fillers, common shortcuts in traditional local kopi production at the time. In 2014, third generation successors Jacob Tan and his partner Juliana converted the elder Tan's decades old Stirling Road office and roastery into a specialty cafe, carrying the founder's purity philosophy directly into third wave territory.

The shop now roasts and sells beans across roughly twenty origins spanning Africa, Asia, and Central and South America, with both retail and wholesale programs plus a coffee subscription. Multiple branches have since opened across the island, including at VivoCity, Parkway Parade, and Raffles Place, but this Stirling Road address remains the original roastery, three generations and more than sixty years into the same family business.
