Kurasu Singapore

The pale minimalist interior of Kurasu Singapore, with a wall of Japanese brewing gear on shelves and a long counter lined with wooden stools

Kurasu began in Kyoto and opened its first overseas shop in Singapore in July 2017, inside a co working space at Odeon Towers, before settling into its current home in Waterloo Centre about three years later. The room is calm and pale, with a long white counter lined with wooden stools, soft lounge benches, and a wall of shelves displaying Japanese drippers, kettles and cups.

The coffee list mirrors the Kyoto shop, pairing Kurasu's own roasts, made on a Giesen W6, with beans from specialty roasters around Japan, shipped over fresh every week. Filter coffee, espresso and ceremonial grade matcha from Kyoto share the menu, and the shelves double as a small shop of exclusive brewing gear for taking the ritual home.
