Equate Coffee

The Equate Coffee counter at Tanjong Pagar Plaza, a sculpted plaster arch with the EQUATE name and plus, minus, multiply and divide symbols on a glazed tile pillar above a stone counter and the team at work

Equate Coffee opened in March 2021 on the second floor of Tanjong Pagar Plaza, behind a concrete arch that feels like the mouth of a cave. Inside, stone grey walls and barely there furniture make a quiet, minimalist room built around the idea of balance, where neighbours and regulars drop in for a calm cup.

The espresso list runs on Solid Gold, a Brazil and Sumatra house blend, while the filter menu showcases single origin lots from Colombia and Ethiopia, including gesha. Baked canelés and a pandan coconut Mount Ondeh cake are the only sweets, and bags of Equate's own roasted beans can be taken home from the shop or ordered online.
