Chye Seng Huat Hardware

Founded by Leon Foo, who started the coffee roasting and wholesale business now known as PPP Coffee (originally Papa Palheta) in 2009 from the back of a Bukit Timah shophouse at age twenty six, Chye Seng Huat Hardware opened in 2012 inside a beautifully conserved Art Deco shophouse that once housed an actual hardware trade. The name, meaning roughly 'flourish again,' was chosen jointly with the landlord as a nod to the building's original trade.
The complex now spans a working Roastery visible from the counter, the main Coffee Bar, and two additional event and workshop spaces under the same roof, making it one of the more architecturally ambitious specialty coffee addresses in the region. Bagged beans are sold through PPP Coffee's retail arm. Seating with a dog is possible outdoors.
