Cata Coffee

Cata Coffee began in 2016 as an independent roastery run by husband and wife Han and Marian, buying in season lots from small farmers and cooperatives and roasting three times a week. The name is Spanish for a tasting session, a nod to the cupping that guides every purchase. In September 2024 they opened their first coffee bar at 56 Joo Chiat Place, a shophouse unit with a green awning and a glass partition that looks onto the roasting space.
The bar runs a weekly rotation of single origin coffees across espresso and filter, with black and white espresso drinks and baked goods from Saga Bakeshop alongside. The room is built around a narrow standing counter and a few high tables, a lively and social way to take a cup. Open Thursday to Monday, with fresh roasted bags and brewing gear ready to take home.
