Moon Coffee

The domed awning entrance to Moon Coffee lit warmly at dusk, tucked beneath a plane tree on a quiet Shanghai lane

Moon Coffee sits down a quiet lane off Maoming Bei Lu, behind a wooden framed glass door that could belong to old Shanghai or old Tokyo. Inside there is room for only a handful of people, one barista working alone, and a small shelf of books for anyone settling in with a flat white.

The house roasts rotate between medium and lighter profiles depending on what has just come in, and the shop describes itself simply as an independent roasting studio rather than a cafe chasing trends. It is easy to miss and easy to love once found, the kind of small room regulars return to specifically because almost no one else knows about it yet.
