Metal Hands

Metal Hands started in a Beijing hutong before opening its first Shanghai outpost on Nanchang Road, a quiet, tree lined lane west of Xintiandi. The bar built its name on lever machine espresso and a small stable of dirty drinks, espresso poured straight over cold milk, in flavors like pistachio, butter, and cinnamon, alongside poached egg style milk coffees finished with coconut or lychee.

Beans are roasted in house, and the hand drip list rotates through single origins that regulars can taste before deciding what to take home in a retail bag. Food stays minimal, tiramisu and a few small desserts, so the room stays focused on the counter: thick glass block windows, warm wood, and mirrored capsule shaped stations where the baristas work.
