Captain George Flavor Museum

Captain George Flavor Museum is the Shanghai home of Peng Jinyang, the barista known as Captain George, who won the 2025 World Brewers Cup after opening his first cafe in Guiyang while still at university. Behind a recessed stone front on Taiyuan Road, a 150 square meter room finished in 2024 unfolds in three chapters: a casual coffee lounge at the front, a retail wall of house roasted beans in the middle, and a long bar leading to a dedicated brewing room for competition grade lots.

Filter coffee is the main event. Single cups of changing rare lots sit beside tasting sets that follow one coffee through three drinks or temperatures, so aroma, acidity, and sweetness become easy to compare, and the baristas are glad to explain origin, variety, and process to anyone curious. Dark timber, aged brass, wired glass, and vintage objects give the space the feel of a collector's study that rewards a slow, curious visit.
