% Arabica Shanghai Wukang Lu

The glass fronted % Arabica shop on Wukang Road with a white espresso machine and grinders inside, a hedge wall of green leaves, wooden benches with two women talking over takeaway cups and a brick villa behind

Tucked into the back section of Ferguson Lane, a courtyard of historic lane houses on Wukang Road dating from 1897, this is % Arabica's flagship in Shanghai. The builders dug down to raise the ceiling and added skylights, so the small white room feels taller and brighter than its footprint suggests.

On clear days the courtyard outside fills quickly with visitors, latte drinkers and brunch crowds, and the shop sits in the middle of the Wukang Road walking circuit. It opens at nine every morning and closes at eight in the evening.
