Dorae Knot

Dorae Knot sits on a quiet stretch of Mangwon-dong between Mangwon Station and the Mapo district office, named after a traditional Korean decorative knot and run by an owner named Ryan out of a room built around stone, light wood and a wall of vinyl records. The shop draws beans from a small, deliberately international list of guest roasters, including Ilse in the United States, Single Guests in London and Datura in Paris, poured through a Mavam Mach 2 espresso machine and dual SSP burr grinders set up for precision extraction.

Past the coffee counter the shop doubles as a low key wine bar in the evenings, pairing natural wine with homemade ice cream and Scandinavian style pastries. It is closed on Thursdays, and the quiet, warm room with a 1960s soundtrack has built a following as a destination stop rather than a passing coffee break.
