Coffee Hanyakbang

Coffee Hanyakbang occupies a narrow alley building in Euljiro that once stood on the grounds of Hyeminseo, the Joseon dynasty clinic where the physician Heo Jun treated ordinary patients. The shop leans fully into that history rather than hiding it, keeping antique medicine cabinet drawers built into the walls and displaying self roasted coffee like dried herbs in an apothecary, run by a roaster who is both a Korea first generation Q grader and a former pharmacist.

Beans are roasted in house on a Union sample roaster using a direct fire method, and hand drip is the default way coffee leaves the counter rather than an afterthought next to espresso. The building keeps its original narrow, multi floor layout, with steep wooden stairs connecting the levels, plus a small outdoor terrace and no on site parking, tucked two minutes on foot from Euljiro 3-ga Station.
