URL Coffee

URL Coffee opened in March 2021 in a small storefront on Broadway in First Hill, a neighborhood better known for its hospitals than its cafes. The room mixes contemporary and mid century modern design, with natural wood, abstract paper lanterns, a single long table and a few small ones, and stools made from skateboard decks that add a note of punkish whimsy under plenty of natural light.

Beans have come from Maru Coffee, a roaster in Los Angeles, with the selection on pour over changing from time to time. The bar makes espresso and cold brew drinks, and with its long shared table it works as a calm refuge among the hospitals nearby. The kitchen is run by a single chef and opens Tuesday to Saturday from eight to two, shorter than the coffee bar, which runs seven to four on weekdays and eight to three on weekends.
