QED Coffee Mt. Baker Ridge

The yellow stucco front of QED Coffee Mt. Baker Ridge with large windows, green tiles, wooden armchairs and benches outside and the hanging Q.E.D. Coffee Roasters sign

QED opened its first shop on Mount Baker Ridge in 2015, a year after the company began roasting wholesale coffee in a West Seattle garage, and the small yellow storefront on 31st Avenue South remains the original room of the QED name. The name is a Latin phrase, quod erat demonstrandum, used to end a mathematical proof, and the roastery frames its coffees as the proof.

QED is a small batch roaster that sets out to make interesting and balanced coffees that highlight the character of each origin, with recent releases from cooperatives and farms in Mexico and Guatemala. The roasting team brings more than thirty years of roasting experience to the work. The shop opens at six on weekdays and at seven on weekends, closing at six every day.
