Onda Origins Cafe & Roastery

Onda Origins opened its flagship cafe and roastery on Rainier Avenue South in 2019, three years after the company began as a roasting and wholesale business. The Hillman City room was built as a community hub, with a grand opening that involved a mural project by local artists and students, and today it mixes a big painted wall, a long communal table with yellow stools and shelves of bright bagged coffee and merchandise.
The coffee is single origin, bought directly from growers in Central and South America, Indonesia and beyond and roasted on site. The company pays more than standard prices and shares an extra dollar per pound with its growers once the coffee is roasted and shelved. Pastries come from the sister business Fresh Flours Bakery. The cafe opens at six thirty on weekdays and at seven on weekends, closing at five.
