Avole Central District

Avole's Central District cafe sits in the Liberty Bank Building on East Union Street, a neighborhood room devoted to Ethiopian coffee traditions. The company was built from the ground up in South Seattle, growing from a small roasting project into a cafe where culture and community meet over every cup, and its Central District counter pours coffee from its own Ethiopian single origin beans.
The signature move is the jebena, the traditional clay pot, which turns out small shots in the way an espresso pull would; visitors who stay to drink theirs in the cafe get a free refill. The menu runs from espresso, iced coffee and cold brew to juices, smoothies, sandwiches and pastries, and bags such as the medium roast Koftana, a washed Yirgacheffe, are sold to take home. Hours are long on weekdays and shorter on Sundays.
