Red Bay Coffee Ferry Building

The slatted oak coffee bar at Red Bay Coffee with a glass shielded espresso machine, a menu board, shelves of black bags and a Red Bay Coffee Bar banner, with a woven blanket on the wall and guests seated on the left

Red Bay's Ferry Building shop is Shop 46 inside the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero, a relocated space with an all day cafe menu and an outdoor patio looking out over the Bay. The company returned to the building in the summer of 2025, and the shop opens at seven in the morning and closes at six in the evening every day.

Red Bay was founded in Oakland in 2014 by Keba Konte in a converted garden shed in Fruitvale that he calls the Coffee Dojo. It roasts direct trade coffee, including lots from Sweet Unity Farms in Tanzania and CENCOIC in Colombia and from smallholder cooperatives across Latin America and Africa, and it has won medals at the Golden Bean North America roaster competition.
