Abanico Coffee Roasters

Abanico Coffee Roasters takes its name from the Spanish word for a hand held fan, an object that is both traditional and expressive, and that idea runs through the Mission Street cafe. Founder Ana Valle was born in El Salvador and shaped by San Francisco, grew up with a cafecito as part of everyday family life, and built a career in roasting, evaluating and sourcing before opening the shop.

The coffees come from across Latin America, with a focus on lasting relationships with the women producers and communities behind each lot. At the bar the classics are served with care next to signature drinks inspired by the flavors, ingredients and traditions of the region, and each roast is developed in house. The shop opens at seven thirty on weekdays and at eight on weekends, and closes at four.
