Zumbar Coffee & Tea

Zumbar Coffee & Tea has roasted in Sorrento Valley, the technology center of San Diego, since 2003. The name is a Spanish verb meaning to buzz like a bee, hum like a motor or purr like a cat, and the cafe beside the roastery grew up serving the scientists and engineers who work nearby, whose curiosity about coffee turned teaching customers into a full time job.
Beans are roasted on site with what the company calls proprietary techniques and sold by the bag, alongside tea, subscriptions and wholesale supply, and the brand has even lent its name to a beer collaboration. The Roselle Street shop opens early on weekdays, keeps shorter hours on Saturday and closes on Sunday.
