Ultreya Coffee and Tea

The Ocean Beach shop of Ultreya Coffee and Tea occupies a white corner building on Sunset Cliffs Boulevard, with coffee and matcha lettered on its walls and a painted door bearing the roaster's sun. It is the second cafe of a San Diego roaster that opened its first shop on College Avenue in 2018, and it opens at half past five every morning.

Ultreya roasts in small batches weekly on a San Franciscan machine its founder Dani bought in 2020, with sourcing chosen with intention and followed to farms in Peru and Mexico. Bags are sold fresh or by subscription, canned cold brew goes out to other stores, and drinks and food can be ordered for pickup at either cafe. Hours are the same every day, closing at five in the afternoon.
